The FDA’s Food Safety and Modernization Act (FSMA), aimed at preventing food contamination across every step of the supply chain, including use of imports and exports across international boundaries. FSMA also gives the FDA authority to order a mandatory recall of product
Genetic Modified Foods (GMO) labeling law which is being developed by the USDA, has been set to go into effect July 2018, but is still under review for a final decision. This law would require food companies to have certain labels -i.e. QR codes- to disclose GMO ingredients. QR codes are a two-dimensional barcode consisting of a black and white pixel pattern which allows to encode up to a few hundred characters. Today’s smartphones and tablets can recognize and decode them exceptionally fast – it’s not surprising that QR stands for Quick Response
